Reason 5: The Druid Hills Patrol is a good value.
2. Compare the DHP monthly dues to other monthly services: how much do you pay per month for home phone, cell phone, internet or cable TV? What about the cost of premium TV channels, like sports and movies? Isn’t security as – or more -- essential than those services?
3. Bear in mind that DHP dues cover not only the hourly rate of bona fide police officers, but the costs of purchasing, maintaining, insuring and fueling a marked vehicle, producing yard signs, printing membership materials, and employing an administrator/website manager. Yet much of the management of the Patrol costs nothing to the membership, thanks to the all-volunteer board -- your neighbors -- who donate their precious free time to increase the security of our community.
4. You may not think that the Patrol is necessary because you don’t hear about much crime in the neighborhood. In fact, you don’t hear about much crime in the neighborhood BECAUSE you aren’t a member of the Druid Hills Patrol. The Patrol sends out crime alerts and special notices warning members of criminal activity in the neighborhood, and provides members with increased access to crime information via our Officer-in-Charge.
5. The Druid Hills Patrol provides deterrence and increases the security of the neighborhood, but it would provide even greater security if we could increase the number of hours that the officers patrol. To do that we need your participation.
